300 MW Renewable Energy Initiatives by the Government of Ontario
The BHCC supports renewable energy initiatives, but is concerned that, to this point, the importance of ensuring that local planning and development issues are adequately addressed is being ignored. This is clear from the RFQ released by the Ministry of Energy on April 28, 2004. We have reviewed the RFQ and have provided our comments regarding it to the Ministry of Energy. The Coalition's principal comment regarding the RFQ is that, in specifying the criteria by which Successful Proponents will be selected, the RFQ fails to give due and proper weight to the various planning and development issues which are relevant to the selection process.
